About the role

The Speech/Language Pathologist at Leisure Chateau Care & Rehab Center is responsible for organizing and conducting speech/language programs to facilitate rehabilitation. They develop treatment goals, implement plans, document services, and provide training to residents and staff.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Evaluates residents, develops treatment goals, implements plans, documents services, and applies therapeutic techniques in areas like cognitive skills, communication, speech, oral motor skills, dysphagia, perceptual abilities, orientation, psychosocial, and functioning.
  • Selects and instructs residents in the use of adaptive communication devices.
  • Selects and instructs residents in activities suitable to their physical and mental capacity, intelligence level, and interests.
  • Consults with other team members to design appropriate regimens for each resident.
  • Instructs residents in skills and techniques for participating in activities and evaluates their progress, attitudes, and behaviors.
  • Adapts programs based on individual resident needs.
  • Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing, and other meetings.
  • Counsels and trains medical, nursing, and other personnel in speech therapy techniques and objectives.
  • Supervises support staff according to state and professional standards.
  • Maintains, cleans, identifies, and reports needed repairs for equipment.
  • Ensures residents and families receive high-quality service in a caring and compassionate environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Master’s Level Speech-Language Pathology curriculum certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  • Licensed and/or eligible for licensure as required in the state.
  • Eligible for a Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
