About the Role
This PRN Speech-Language Pathology Therapy role is based in an Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory Care setting. You will provide speech-language pathology therapy and related services while maintaining positive interactions with facilities and clients in accordance with Reliant Rehabilitation guidelines. Responsibilities include screening, evaluating, and treating patients, developing treatment plans, supervising assistants and Rehab Techs, and managing cases.
Responsibilities
- Optimize communication, cognitive-linguistic abilities, and swallowing skills of patients by providing, directing, and/or overseeing speech therapy, including screening residents, evaluating and treating patients, and complying with billing and documentation guidelines.
- Establish and maintain effective interactions with patients, the interdisciplinary team, and other clientele to reflect patient-centered care.
- Directly supervise Rehab Techs during group and individual treatment to promote efficient resource utilization and clinical skill development.
- Build a strong Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) therapy program by integrating SLP therapy into community and interdisciplinary teams, contributing to patient care and administrative activities, and maintaining relationships with healthcare professionals.
- Develop and implement new programs/techniques to enhance rehabilitation services while adhering to Reliant Rehabilitation and client-specific policies on safety, infection control, and emergency preparedness.
- Enhance clinical expertise, professional, and management skills through interaction with managers, therapists, self-study, and continuing education.
- Maintain a valid state license and awareness of issues related to the profession and healthcare environment.
- Understand relevant payment models, billing guidelines, and clinically appropriate delivery methods.
- Provide quality care with reasonable goals and outcomes within guidelines.
- Comply with infection control procedures and environmental safety protocols within the community.
- Perform patient lifting using appropriate biomechanical techniques, capable of lifting thirty (30) pounds of dead weight alone.
- Maintain confidentiality of Reliant Rehabilitation, community, and patient information.
- Conduct yourself in an ethical, legal, and responsible manner at all times, adhering to the Team Member Handbook and Code of Business Conduct.
- Travel between facilities during scheduled hours and work varying hours and shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Attend all mandatory meetings, trainings, and assignments as delegated.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree or equivalent in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Valid state Speech-Language Pathologist license (where appropriate).
- Effective clinical problem-solving skills, including identifying and prioritizing issues, developing action plans, and ensuring results.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to build relationships with a diverse population.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic internet navigation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Prior to beginning patient care for Reliant Rehabilitation, a peer SLP may complete a Competency Checklist to demonstrate the following:
