Speech Language Pathologist - School Contract

About the Role

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) evaluates patients, develops and implements treatment plans, and provides therapeutic interventions for individuals with communication, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing disorders. Responsibilities include documentation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and patient and family education to promote functional independence and patient-centered outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct evaluations and assessments for developmental, cognitive, speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and measurable goals in collaboration with patients, caregivers, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Reassess patient condition and update treatment goals and plans as needed.
• Provide patient and family education and counseling related to speech-language and swallowing needs.
• Accurately document treatment sessions, assessments, progress, and discharge plans.
• Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, therapists, and support staff to ensure consistent and effective rehabilitation plans.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, care planning, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Supervise clinical fellows, students, and other support personnel as applicable.
• Ensure compliance with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and facility policies.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
• Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) required.
• Current licensure to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist in the applicable state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within the time frame required by facility policy.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA preferred.
• VitalStim certification preferred.
• One (1) year of experience in a rehabilitation or acute care setting preferred.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to speech, language, and swallowing.
• Proficient in the use of assessment tools, therapy materials, and documentation systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to function independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
• Familiarity with ASHA and state practice standards.
