Duties & Responsibilities
Screen, evaluate, select, and schedule caseload; provide therapy services, including in-class intervention for students with communication disorders.
Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, peers, other support staff, parents, and the community.
Adapt the professional role of speech/language pathology to the public schools.
Develop appropriate Individual Education Programs (IEPs) goals and objectives.
Reporting Relationships
Reports directly to and is supervised by the Special Education Supervisor.
Education & Experience
- Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of an Educational Staff Associate certificate for speech-language pathologist.
- Master’s degree in speech/language pathology required.
- Experience in working with students with mild, moderate and severe disabilities.
- Preferred experience working in a multi-cultural environment preferred.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of State and school district rules and regulations.
Skills
- Skills in assessing students and providing feedback as a member of an evaluation team.
- Skills in programming activities to promote communication interaction objectives.
- Skills in programming based on the developmental level of students and functional skills.
Physical Requirements
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
Conditions Of Employment
- $ 73,990 to $ 138,754 annual salary (based on the negotiated collective bargaining agreement salary schedule).
- Certificated staff work the school year contract with placement on the District and BEA bargaining agreement salary schedule.
- Medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life-insurance eligibility is based upon .45 FTE.
- Retirement provided through Washington State Department of Retirement Systems.
