Speech Language Pathologist - PRN / Per Diem

About the role

RUSH Specialty Hospital, a partnership between Select Medical and RUSH, is a 100-bed facility offering inpatient rehabilitation services. The acute rehabilitation unit focuses on addressing medical, physical, emotional, and vocational challenges for patients with various conditions including brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputations, and multiple traumas.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates all assigned patients and develops, implements and modifies treatment plan in accordance with the patient’s need and physician direction.
• Responsible for delegation and direction of all discipline-specific therapy services for those assigned patients.
• Serves as an educator of patients, families, students, co-workers and self.
• Ensures the design of functional treatment programs allowing for an effective return to community activities.
• Coordinates treatment program in conjunction with other clinical/therapeutic services as available community resources.

Requirements

• Current state licensure as Speech Language Pathologist required.
• Certified BLS or completion in first 90 days of employment required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in inpatient rehabilitation setting preferred.
• Experience working with patients who have complex medical conditions and cognitive impairments.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Skills

• Excellent clinical judgment and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficiency in using electronic health records and other relevant software.
