Speech Language Pathologist PRN BELL COUNTY

About the Role

The Home Health Speech Language Pathologist - PRN is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation. This role supports the Home Therapy Program under the direction of the attending physician, providing services to clients with speech and language complications in Bell County, TX. The position involves collaboration with family members, nurses, and other responsible parties to ensure coordinated care.

Responsibilities

• Provides care utilizing infection control measures that protect both staff and patients (OSHA).
• Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and competency by attending in-services and participating in training programs.
• Accepts clinical assignments consistent with education and competence to care for patients.
• Monitors assigned cases to ensure compliance with third-party payor requirements.
• Provides effective communication to patients, families, team members, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate services and ensure appropriate referrals.
• Ensures continuity of quality patient care through appropriate documentation and adherence to the plan of care.
• Supervises and provides clinical direction to Home Health Aides/UP to maintain service quality and continuity.
• Delivers specialized speech therapy services and treatments.
• Educates clients and families about the disease process.
• Performs initial and ongoing comprehensive assessments (OASIS/Agency) of speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders using appropriate tests and measures.
• Develops, implements, documents, and revises the Plan of Care in consultation with the physician and care team to evaluate effectiveness and outcomes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Speech Language Pathology required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a home health setting.
• Active and unencumbered Speech Language Pathologist license in the state of employment.
• Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English.
• Articulates and embraces hospice philosophy.

Skills

• Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations, compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
• Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations. Strong written and verbal communication skills for reports, correspondence, and presentations.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The role requires regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity, along with the ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Visual acuity, including close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment, is essential. The position involves exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and standard medical equipment in a healthcare setting.
