Essential Functions
- Plans, directs, evaluates, and conducts habilitative and rehabilitative programs to treat speech, language and/or swallowing disorders.
- Prepares written reports of diagnostic findings, intervention techniques used, progress made and follow-up status in a timeframe according to policy and procedure.
- Develops treatment plans, directs, supervises, and treats patients/caregiver in accordance with treatment plan.
- Consults and communicates with patient, family, providers, and nursing staff.
- Affixes multidisciplinary team with discharge planning and establishes home therapy programs.
- Completes required documentation on patients and maintains other department records in accordance with departmental, health center policies and procedures.
- Affixes in efficient use of work time and supplies.
- Promotes efficient utilization of resources/supplies.
Position Qualifications
- Master’s degree in the area of Speech/Language Pathology.
- Must have demonstrated competence in an acute patient care setting for at least one year.
- CFY supervision is available for those with no experience.
- Current licensure from the Iowa Department of Public Health.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is desirable.
- Special aptitudes include tact, understanding and compassion and ability to communicate well with other professionals, patients and their families, both verbal and written.
