As a PRN Speech Language Pathologist, you’ll provide one-on-one skilled nursing care that helps patients recover, manage chronic conditions, and maintain their independence.

Schedule

Regular weekday patient visits with participation in a rotating on-call schedule, including evenings and weekends. Daily hours vary based on patient needs, travel, and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts appropriate evaluations, assesses home environment (as appropriate), identifies equipment needs relative to speech/language function.
  • Identifies functional speech defects and establishes a plan of care to improve patient’s function.
  • Administers diagnostic speech and language evaluations and some basic, informal audiological assessment in accordance with the plan of care.
  • Recommends communication devices/aids as indicated.
  • Prepares a report of each client’s diagnostic evaluation and makes recommendations.
  • Advises, consults, and teaches appropriate procedures and supportive activities to clients, family members, and other agency staff.
  • Provides direct speech service to clients under a provider’s plan of care. Records and reports to the provider the client’s response to therapy.

Requirements

  • Possess certification of clinical competence in speech from the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
  • Licensed as a speech therapist in the state in which practicing.
  • At least one (1) year of acute care setting or equivalent experience.
  • Possess knowledge of principles and practices of speech therapy.
  • Complies and maintains current CPR certification.
  • Ability to make home visits and provide nursing care in the home environment.
  • Must have reliable transportation, current driver's license, and appropriate automobile insurance.
