About the role
This Speech Pathologist I position evaluates and treats patients to maintain or restore their maximum functional performance level and completes discharge planning. The role is split between Acute Care and Outpatient settings in Farmville. A $30,000 recruitment bonus is available, paid out over 2 years.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates and develops plan of care according to American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) guidelines.
- Administers speech-language pathology treatments appropriate to diagnosis and to ASHA guidelines.
- Completes discharge planning according to ASHA guidelines by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers; contributing to patient care conferences.
- Documents and charges for patient care services by charting in patient and department records according to federal, state, and local regulations.
- Protects patients, employees, and visitors by promoting infection-control and safety policies and protocols.
- Meets productivity standards.
- Ensures operation of equipment by following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshoots malfunctions and reports the need for repair to supervisor.
- Supervises Rehab Aides, other support staff, and students.
- Participates in a performance improvement activity or completes a pre-approved project and communicates outcome to staff.
- Completes at least one of the following:
- Participates in a professional therapy organization,
- Serves on an approved Centra committee and reports outcomes to staff, or
- Performs a pre-approved clinical activity and provides feedback to peers.
- May perform other duties as assigned or requested; job specification can be modified or updated at any time.
Requirements
- Required Education: Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology.
- Preferred Experience: Hospital-based experience.
- Required Certifications and Licensures:
- Licensed by the Virginia Department of Health Professions.
- Possess Certificate of Clinical Competence.
- Member of American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Pay
$34.72 - $52.09 per hour.
