About the Role

This position is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of medically prescribed therapy services, in order to achieve maximum developmental potential, functional gains and independence. The therapist must be able to work independently and make appropriate decisions based on each patient's needs. Provides evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of communication, swallowing and cognitive disorders resulting from illness, congenital or developmental disorders. Performs other duties as assigned.

• Evaluates and treats medically prescribed therapy services to achieve maximum developmental potential, functional gains, and independence.
• Makes appropriate decisions based on each patient's needs.
• Provides evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of communication, swallowing, and cognitive disorders resulting from illness, congenital, or developmental disorders.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology (SLP), graduated from an accredited Speech Language program.
• Current Florida Speech Pathology License.
• American Heart Association BLS Certification for Health Care Providers.

Physical Requirements

• Stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time.
• Frequently assists with lifting patients and heavy equipment.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, make sound decisions, and be detail-oriented, alert, and self-motivated.
• Ability to push/pull up to 40 lbs., carry and lift up to 50 lbs.

Threshold Requirements

• Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service, and health requirements, including attendance at new employee orientation.
• TB/PPD Surveillance Program.
• Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).
