Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluates and develops a treatment plan.
- Demonstrates a firm grasp of patient management.
- Promotes effective communication and demonstrates cooperation and teamwork within the physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy departments, the facility, and other contacts.
- Contributes to the efficient and safe operation of the department.
Skills (Qualifications, Experience, Judgment)
- Must be eligible to practice speech-language pathology and has license through the University of the State of New York State Education Department, Office of the Professions, Division of Professional Licensing Services and practices in accordance with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association preferred practice patterns.
- Relates well with various people and personalities.
- Demonstrate good judgment and problem-solving skills in a variety of patient-related and staff situations.
- Demonstrate maturity as related to emotional involvement.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with little supervision.
- Demonstrate the ability to be flexible and adaptable.
- Demonstrate effective and concise written language skills.
- Demonstrate good formal and informal clinical teaching skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to delegate effectively
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of speech-language pathology evaluation and treatment techniques as could be typical of a new graduate.
- Demonstrate good time-management skills.
- Demonstrate coordination, manual dexterity, visual and auditory acuity.
Qualifications
Requires either a master's or doctoral degree and New York State licensure. Requires in-depth knowledge in the application of principles, methods and procedures of measurement, prediction, non-medical diagnosis, testing, counseling, consultation, rehabilitation and instruction related to the development and disorders of speech, voice, and/or language for the purpose of preventing, ameliorating or modifying such disorder conditions in individuals and/or groups of individuals.
