About the role

Administers speech and language evaluations, tests, or examinations to diagnose and plan treatments for clients/patients/residents with various speech problems and swallowing disorders. Assesses clients/patients/residents with speech, language, cognitive, or swallowing problems and develops individualized treatment plans based on clinical diagnoses. Provides speech and language services; monitors disease progression and adjusts treatments accordingly. Instructs clients/patients/residents in practicing speech and language therapeutic exercises and provides consultation throughout treatment processes.

Ensures all speech and language related standards, policies, protocols, and quality requirements are met. May treat individuals of all ages with varying diagnoses and disorders. Demonstrates documentation in accordance with departmental guidelines and meets all regulatory requirements. Follows accepted clinical practice guidelines of professional organizations. Exhibits flexibility with variable work schedules/assignments.

Interacts with individuals outside the department, including providers, case managers, third-party payers, and public organizations. May supervise assistants, aides, and students. Provides ongoing education and training to peers in areas of expertise as determined by department leadership. Performs other related duties as requested by manager.

Based on assigned area, work may focus on post-acute, long-term care, and home health care environments.

Schedule

• Full-time, day shifts
• 8-hour shifts
• 40 hours per week

Responsibilities

• Administer speech and language evaluations, tests, or examinations to diagnose and plan treatments
• Assess clients/patients/residents with speech, language, cognitive, or swallowing problems and develop individualized treatment plans
• Provide speech and language services; monitor disease progression and adjust treatments
• Instruct clients/patients/residents in therapeutic exercises and provide consultation throughout treatment
• Ensure compliance with speech and language standards, policies, protocols, and quality requirements
• Document treatment in accordance with departmental guidelines and regulatory requirements
• Follow clinical practice guidelines of professional organizations
• Supervise assistants, aides, and students as needed
• Provide ongoing education and training to peers in areas of expertise
• Interact with providers, case managers, third-party payers, and public organizations
• Perform other duties as requested by manager

Requirements

• Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure
• Must be licensed in the state(s) of practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist
• Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) or currently working on Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) (preferred)
• Valid driver’s license when applicable
• Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment

Pay

Salary range: $32.50 – $52.00 per hour
