Job Description

Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to promote optimum patient rehabilitation. Provides Speech- Language Pathology services as defined by the California Speech-Language Pathology Practice Act, applying the principles, methods, and procedures for the screening, evaluation, and treatment of disorders of speech, voice, cognition, language, and swallow. Additionally, the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide Speech Language Pathology services within an interdisciplinary environment consistent with the position’s qualifications, professional practices, and ethical standards.

This individual will demonstrate accountability for, and contribution to, the Department’s daily operations, including fulfilling charge duties as requested. The SLP will demonstrate proficiency in the performance and interpretation of videofluoroscopic swallow studies (VFSS), also known as modified barium swallow studies (MBSS). Inpatient SLP providers must also demonstrate proficiency in Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallow (FEES), as determined by formal sign-off by a qualified individual who can attest to the provider’s competency.

Exhibit fiscal responsibility through accurate time-keeping of assigned work shifts (which includes compliance with management-designated start/end times). Participate in program development and quality improvement activities as requested by management Adhere to the Department’s established productivity standards.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Accredited Speech-Language Pathology Program; Masters Degree required
  • For Outpatient SLPs: Demonstrated proficiency in video swallow studies (VFSS/MBSS) within six (6)months of hire
  • For Inpatient SLPs: Demonstrated proficiency in both VFSS/MBSS six (6) months and FEES within one (1) year of hire
  • License/Certification/Registration Requirements: Current valid California Speech-Language Pathology license, Certificate of Clinical Competence OR a clinical fellowship under supervision of a Speech-Language Pathologist on staff who has a Certificate of Clinical Competence as required by the State of California, Current BLS (Basic Lifesaving Certification - American Heart Association) for Healthcare Provider, Valid California drivers license and proof of automobile insurance, CCS-Paneled or in process if working in NICU/OP Pediatrics Ages of Patients Served: This position can serve the following age groups: neonate/child (0-3), child (4-12), adolescent (13-17), adult (18-64), and older adult (65+).

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Sedentary Work - Duties performed mostly while sitting; walking and standing at times. Occasionally lift or carry up to 10 lbs. Uses hands and fingers.

Salary Range

$57.75 - $86.62 USD Hour
