About the role

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) provides diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for speech, language, voice, swallow, and fluency disorders. They evaluate patient needs, establish goals, and plan and conduct treatment. The SLP interacts with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, treat, evaluate, implement POC on patient population as assigned
  • Demonstrate understanding of admission process, treatment costs, financial support, and appropriate billing
  • Practice under ASHA standards and the SLP Practice Act of IL
  • Work in collaboration with physicians
  • Provide supportive supervision of SLP students
  • Interact with all age groups of patients, from pediatrics to geriatrics
  • Ensure a clean and safe environment of care, adhering to SAFE error prevention habits
  • Provide the highest standard of privacy and confidentiality in patient-related matters
  • Document all patient care activities in the electronic medical record in a timely manner
  • Develop professional skills through defined development plans, participation in continuing education, and in-service offerings, staying updated with advancements in the field
  • Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals and establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families
  • Adhere to professional standards and responsibilities, ensuring service competence and applying evidence-based interventions to improve quality of care
  • Rotate on Saturdays and Sundays as applicable

Requirements

  • Completion of a Master’s or Doctorate degree program from an accredited college or university
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Current License as a speech-language pathologist from the State of Illinois

Days - First Shift, Days 8-4:30

Acute care with training and floating to IPR as needed
