About the role

The Speech Language Pathologist position provides speech language evaluations and treatment to children and families enrolled in or referred to the NC Infant Toddler Program. Services must be provided in compliance with Federal and State regulations for the Infant Toddler Program. All services are provided in the child’s natural environments (most often in family homes).

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patient response and progress and present evaluative reports in a case staffing and multidisciplinary team meeting.
  • Work effectively with children aged 0-3, their families, medical personnel, and other CDSA staff members, and deal tactfully with the public.
  • Provide services using an evidence-based Early Intervention Caregiver Coaching model.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Requirements

This position is located in the Waynesville CDSA office.

Qualifications

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Considerable knowledge of the principles, techniques, and methods of speech/language pathology as applicable to children birth to three, including speech and language development, articulation, phonology, oral-motor function, and preferably in pediatric dysphagia.
  • Working knowledge of augmentative communication options and devices for this population.
  • Ability to work effectively with children aged 0-3, their families, medical personnel, and other CDSA staff members, and to deal tactfully with the public.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn to provide services using an evidence-based Early Intervention Caregiver Coaching model.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
