Job Summary and Qualifications
Specialization: Pathology
Selective Job Summary: HCA Healthcare Mission Hospital is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to join their Head & Neck Specialists SLP program in Asheville, North Carolina. The position is part of the Sarah Cannon Cancer Network-Head and Neck Specialists team.

Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of evidence-based treatment plans for speech, voice, or swallowing disorders related to head and neck cancer
  • Clinical swallow evaluations
  • FEES MBSS Tracheostomy management including speaking valve placement
  • Aalaryngeal Voice Restoration & laryngectomy care including TEP management
  • Participation in Head & Neck tumor board
  • Pre-Operative Counseling
  • Prophylactic care for the oral preservation population
  • Voice evaluation and treatment including videostroboscopic exams
  • Participation in patient, family, staff, physician, student, and community outreach/education through provision of education and in-services
  • Program development through participation in research and/or local, state, national, or international conferences/presentations/meetings

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of a master's level Speech Language Pathology program is required
  • Must be licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist in North Carolina, in accordance with law and regulation
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCCs) per ASHA preferred
  • A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required
  • Must be proficient in MBSS
  • Preferred: At least 1 year of experience treating head and neck cancer patients, including laryngectomy patients and TEP placement

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology is required

Experience

  • 1+ years’ experience in direct patient rehab is required
