About the Role

The Speech and Language Pathologist will support the communication needs of students across diverse abilities and backgrounds. Responsibilities include evaluating, diagnosing, and treating speech and language disorders, collaborating with educators, and guiding families to enhance student outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess speech and language capabilities of students.
• Diagnose speech and language disorders and related conditions.
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and treatment plans tailored to each student’s needs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Provide direct speech and language therapy to students in individual and small group settings using evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to create a supportive environment for students with communication difficulties.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to IEP meetings.
• Communicate effectively with families about student progress and provide resources and strategies to support communication development at home.
• Monitor and maintain accurate and timely records of student progress, therapy sessions, and assessments.
• Stay current with best practices in speech-language pathology and contribute to staff professional development through workshops and training.
• Advocate for students with speech and language disorders and promote awareness of speech and language development within the school community.
• Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students.
• Ensure regular and predictable attendance.

• Perform first aid/CPR if necessary.
• Assist/lift students as needed.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Valid state license and/or certification.
• Experience in a school setting is preferred but not required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
