Duties And Responsibilities
- Have knowledge of current speech/language pathology approaches and practices
- Have the ability to plan program goals and designated outcomes for students
- Have the ability to implement strategies, activities and techniques for promoting quality student performance in communication and language development
- Possess the ability to assess communication and language learning outcomes achieved by students using a variety of assessment procedures (i.e., formal and informal testing, observation, ongoing monitoring of performance)
- Possess the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and the community and outside agencies to better meet the needs of students
- Possess the ability to address the learning styles of students
- Possess the ability to work as a contributing team member
- Possess the ability to assist with curriculum adaptations to meet the diverse needs of learners
- Possess the ability to effectively contribute to an individual program plan for students with special needs
Skills And Experience Required
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License
- Speech Language Pathologist Endorsement
- Comprehensive understanding of school based Speech/Language therapy
- Strong understanding of data collection/monitoring of student progress
- Public or private school experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team
- The ability to evaluate and assess students
- The ability to utilize appropriate assessment tools and techniques
- The ability to prepare initial evaluation and progress reports as required
- The ability to design and implement treatment plans, goals and clinical interventions
Physical/Mental Requirements
- Able to communicate effectively
- Exhibit outstanding levels of flexibility, creativity, organizational skills, interpersonal communication skills, articulation, confidentiality, organization and cooperativeness
- Physical requirements include sitting, standing, bending, walking, and lifting equipment and materials
- High level of flexibility, articulation, concentration, and confidentially
CFY (Clinical Fellowship Year) supervision available.
