Duties And Responsibilities

  • Have knowledge of current speech/language pathology approaches and practices
  • Have the ability to plan program goals and designated outcomes for students
  • Have the ability to implement strategies, activities and techniques for promoting quality student performance in communication and language development
  • Possess the ability to assess communication and language learning outcomes achieved by students using a variety of assessment procedures (i.e., formal and informal testing, observation, ongoing monitoring of performance)
  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and the community and outside agencies to better meet the needs of students
  • Possess the ability to address the learning styles of students
  • Possess the ability to work as a contributing team member
  • Possess the ability to assist with curriculum adaptations to meet the diverse needs of learners
  • Possess the ability to effectively contribute to an individual program plan for students with special needs

Skills And Experience Required

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License
  • Speech Language Pathologist Endorsement
  • Comprehensive understanding of school based Speech/Language therapy
  • Strong understanding of data collection/monitoring of student progress
  • Public or private school experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team
  • The ability to evaluate and assess students
  • The ability to utilize appropriate assessment tools and techniques
  • The ability to prepare initial evaluation and progress reports as required
  • The ability to design and implement treatment plans, goals and clinical interventions

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Able to communicate effectively
  • Exhibit outstanding levels of flexibility, creativity, organizational skills, interpersonal communication skills, articulation, confidentiality, organization and cooperativeness
  • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, bending, walking, and lifting equipment and materials
  • High level of flexibility, articulation, concentration, and confidentially

CFY (Clinical Fellowship Year) supervision available.
