About the role

Coachella Valley Unified School District covers more than 1,200 square miles of mostly rural desert terrain, serving the communities of Coachella, Thermal, Mecca, Oasis, Indio, and the Salton Sea. The district currently operates fifteen elementary schools, three middle schools, three comprehensive high schools, one continuation high school, and one adult school. The district has a large Latino and English Learner population that has made tremendous improvements in student achievement in the past few years. The district faces some very tough challenges in educating the children of the Coachella Valley. Responsibilities

  • Assess and diagnose speech, language and hearing disorders, and determine program eligibility.
  • Formulate and implement goals and objectives and establish an individualized therapy program for qualifying students.
  • Provide therapy for students demonstrating problems with receptive and expressive language, voice disorders, speech fluency and hearing impairments.
  • Understand and expedite federal and State regulations as they pertain to speech, language and hearing services.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of attendance accounting data.
  • Assist parents and teachers in understanding and implementing therapeutic goals for individual children and students.
  • Assume responsibility for an assigned student caseload regarding the state mandated IEP review process.
  • Assist in the preparation and conducting of annual and triennial reviews according to legal timelines.
  • Complete necessary assessment and develop a written report including preliminary goals and objectives.
  • Absorb and notify parents of meeting dates.
  • Review and update case load files annually or as directed to assure they contain all proper documentation.
  • Work in conjunction with psychologist in ensuring the timely completion of Total Service IEP Reports.
  • Cooperate with County personnel and other agencies when supplementary information or services are necessary.
  • Instruct individuals in receptive integrative/processing and expressive language skills.
  • Attend appropriate meetings and staff development programs as directed.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Copy of Valid California Language, Speech, and Hearing LICENSE/CREDENTIAL, a Clinical Rehabilitative Services CREDENTIAL, or CALIFORNIA ISSUED LICENSE.
  • Certificate of Clearance through the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Benefits

  • Yearly Stipends Available (Confirmed through official transcripts) - $1,000 Masters - $1,500 Doctorate

Pay

$70,729.00 - $146,546.00 Annually
