What You'll Do

As a Speech Therapist, you'll make a significant difference in the lives of our patients. Your role includes:

  • Developing and adjusting individualized ST plans of care based on patient needs.
  • Guiding patients in using therapeutic, creative, and self-care activities to improve their functioning.
  • Observing, recording, and reporting patient reactions, changes, and progress to attending physicians and agency staff.
  • Implementing activities and home exercise programs to enhance swallowing, breathing, cognition, speech, and communication.
  • Teaching patients and their families about disease/injuries and how to manage them throughout the therapy process.
  • Minimizing patient risk by teaching preventive measures and decision-making skills.

How You'll Work

  • Provide home-based skilled speech therapy care as directed by the attending physician.
  • Educate patients and their families on managing their conditions.
  • Complete all clinical documentation according to agency protocol and Medicare/Federal guidelines.
  • Follow agency policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Attend in-service training and mandatory agency meetings.

Hard & Soft Skills

  • Calm and compassionate communicator with a positive attitude.
  • Patient and attentive, with strong attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Capable of performing all physical tasks required for the position.

Requirements

  • A current license to practice as a Speech Therapist in the state of employment.
  • At least one year of experience as a Speech Therapist in an acute care setting.
  • Home care experience is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and auto insurance in your name as a driver.
