About the role
KidsCare Home Health is an ethical, therapist-owned home health company providing therapy services to children with special needs in their homes. We seek a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant who shares our passion for working with pediatrics and creating a balanced work environment.
Responsibilities
- Organize and conduct medically prescribed speech therapy to pediatric patients under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Direct patients and caregivers in selected tasks to reinforce and enhance performance.
- Coordinate patient care with office staff and other disciplines.
- Maintain appropriate communication with patients and families regarding progress, problems, home programs, and other issues.
- Refer patients and family members to appropriate services and resources as necessary.
- Consult with supervisors on patient progress and maintain accurate records.
- Participate in supervised visits as required by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology.
- Maintain supplies and equipment.
- Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.
- Attend continuing education activities.
- Maintain an adequate caseload with appropriate productivity.
- Collaborate with others through knowledge and skills sharing.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve company and departmental goals.
- Serve as a backup service provider for other caseloads as needed.
- Comply with all company policies, practices, and procedures.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree with emphasis in Communication Disorders and Sciences.
- Current state-issued professional licensure.
- Valid state driver license.
- CPR certification.
- 0-2 years of experience preferred.
- Pediatric clinical experience preferred.
- Home health experience preferred.
Qualifications and Skills
- Ability to read and write in simple correspondence and communicate effectively in public speaking situations.
- Excellent critical thinking and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret instructions and solve practical problems.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Physical Demands and Working Environment
The position involves spending one-third to two-thirds of time in standing, walking, reaching, sitting, kneeling, and crawling activities. Over two-thirds of the time is spent using hands, fingers, and handling, feeling, talking, and hearing. The work environment includes diverse indoor residential or childcare settings with moderate noise levels (e.g., business office with computers, phones, and printers, light traffic).
