About the role

Baptist Medical Center is seeking a PRN Speech Language Pathologist to join our Acute Care Rehab Team in downtown Jacksonville, FL. This role works in an acute care, inpatient hospital setting with flexibility to cover weekdays, weekends, and holiday rotations.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, diagnoses, develops, and implements treatment plans for patients of all diagnoses.
  • Provides care for patients with medical conditions/dysfunctions such as neurological (stroke, seizures, movement disorders, Guillain-Barré), respiratory, and general medical conditions impacting swallowing, speech, language, or cognitive-communication skills.
  • Conducts Modified Barium Swallow studies.
  • Delivers extensive patient and family education.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary team care with rehab professionals, nursing, physicians, dietitians, social services, respiratory, and support staff.
  • Works in a fast-paced setting requiring strong time management, detailed EMR documentation, self-direction, and effective communication skills.

Requirements

  • Master of Science or Master of Arts in Speech Language Pathology (required).
  • Licensed Speech Language Pathologist (required).
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (required).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required).
  • At least 2 years of previous experience in acute care settings, including experience with Modified Barium Swallow studies (strongly preferred).
  • Experience with speech/language, voice, and neuro conditions.
