About the Role

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is a member of the rehabilitation team responsible for providing direct patient care services, including evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning for individuals referred for speech/language services. The SLP establishes individualized patient treatment plans and delivers quality therapy services while ensuring care aligns with the medical treatment plan and coordinates with other disciplines as needed.

The SLP provides patient and family instruction/home programs, performs departmental tasks, and may supervise student clinicians and volunteers. The role requires adaptability, initiative, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuing education. The SLP may also rotate to other rehabilitation service areas as needed and provide guidance/training to new employees.

Clinical Fellows must follow ASHA guidelines and complete all requirements to achieve the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning for speech/language services.
• Develop and implement individualized patient treatment plans.
• Ensure patient care aligns with the medical treatment plan and coordinates with other disciplines.
• Provide patient and family instruction, including home programs.
• Perform departmental tasks as assigned.
• Supervise and guide student clinicians and volunteers.
• Rotate to other rehabilitation service areas as needed.
• Provide training and orientation to new employees.
• Adhere to ASHA guidelines (for Clinical Fellows) and complete certification requirements within 12 months of hire.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree from an approved university program in Speech/Language Pathology.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech/Language/Hearing Association or completion of registration for Clinical Fellowship with the appropriate state Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology.
• Licensed to practice Speech/Language Pathology in the state of employment.
• Clinical Fellows must hold provisional licensure as required by the state prior to hire.
• Current CPR certification.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $35.09–$50.05 per hour, with the actual rate dependent on experience.
