About the role
The Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellow evaluates patients, identifies patient problems, develops a comprehensive plan of care, manages patient care, completes documentation, and provides patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Performs evaluations appropriate to established procedures.
- Ensures there is a prescription/order for all evaluations and uses relevant test and standard measures.
- Develops a comprehensive plan of care that is supported by evaluation findings and integrates prognostication of patient outcomes/progress.
- Manages the speech therapy care of the patient and coordinates with others to ensure the patient receives the total care needed.
- Completes all required documentation in an accurate and thorough manner within expected timeframes.
- Utilizes treatment interventions and strategies within the scope of practice and supported by established plan of care and evidence-based practice.
- Identifies safety concerns and implements appropriate measures to provide a safe environment.
- Reviews identified risks and benefits of therapy and obtains consent from patient and/or caregiver.
- Identifies and facilitates patient discharge needs, including documentation, communication with care team, and recommendations for follow-up services.
- Provides individualized, patient-centered care respecting personal, cultural, spiritual beliefs and preferences; age-related cognitive and psychosocial needs; social support needs; gender, sexual orientation, and economic background.
- Contributes ideas and suggestions to continuously improve processes, procedures, methods, and productivity, and utilizes quality principles for continuous performance improvement.
- Participates in continuous learning, professional development, and documents evidence.
- Participates in activities that promote professional identity within the clinical environment, Torrance Memorial environment, and the community at large.
- Completes all required components of training as set forth by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association, including documentation of required activities.
Requirements
Completion of Master of SLP Program, License / Certification Requirements Require professional Experience (RPE), Temporary License - CABCLS or ACLS Certification.
