Speech and Language Pathologist (Special Education- Greenspring Campus LEAP)

About the role

The SLP-I will provide speech and language services to a varied population of students in a full-day non-public setting or public-private partnership setting. The role involves implementing and documenting services as outlined in each student's IEP, addressing student and family needs, and mitigating the impact of speech and language disabilities on educational progress.

Responsibilities include conducting functional communication, speech and language, and feeding/oral motor assessments to determine disabilities and current levels of functioning, developing and implementing intervention programs, and delivering services in appropriate settings (e.g., pull-out, classroom, co-teaching).

The SLP-I will maintain documentation of all interactions related to student progress, develop and modify IEPs in cooperation with relevant teams, and participate in intra- and interdisciplinary activities, including team meetings and professional training.

Candidates must demonstrate competence across all age groups, with a clinical focus on neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and some adult populations with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Implement and document speech and language services as outlined in student IEPs.
• Conduct assessments for functional communication, speech and language, and feeding/oral motor skills to determine disabilities and current levels of functioning.
• Develop and implement intervention programs to resolve identified conditions or diminish their functional/educational impact.
• Deliver intervention services in settings appropriate to student needs (e.g., pull-out, classroom, co-teaching).
• Maintain documentation of contacts with parents, guardians, agency representatives, and colleagues regarding student progress.
• Develop, modify, and implement IEPs in cooperation with the ACT office and LSS as prescribed at Annual Team Meetings.
• Participate in intra- and interdisciplinary activities, including team meetings and professional training.
• Support the school’s mission and goals in a student-centered culture.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology with related clinical requirements.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
• Eligibility for or possession of Maryland State Licensure in Speech Language Pathology.
• Experience working with children who have communication disorders.
• Competence across all age groups, with a focus on neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and adult populations with disabilities.

Training

• PCM (or related) training will be provided by the department.
• Must achieve and maintain certification at the “Practitioner” level (or higher) according to departmental policy timelines.

Pay

USD $33.65/Hr. – USD $51.08/Hr.
