About the role

The Speech and Language Pathologist at Amherst Middle School supports students through specially designed instruction that aligns with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement IEP goals based on data and progress updates.
  • Evaluate and screen students to assess their speech and language skills.
  • Provide specialized instruction and support teachers in curriculum differentiation.
  • Collaborate with staff and families to implement interventions and accommodations.
  • Maintain therapeutic schedules and reinforce positive student behavior.
  • Attend meetings such as IEPs, parent conferences, and faculty training sessions.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Communication or Speech-Language Pathology.
  • State of NH Certification as a Speech and Language Pathologist and/or ASHA Certification.

Qualifications

  • Experience with competency-based education and assessment.
  • Experience with specialized populations including students requiring Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), neurodiverse students, and/or students with social-emotional needs.

  • Provide high-quality specially designed instruction.
  • Create a safe and effective classroom environment.
  • Develop IEPs rooted in skill development, data collection, and successful transition outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with students, families, teachers, and other stakeholders.
  • Engage in ethical, skilled, and collaborative professional practices.
  • Have expertise in the field of special education, diagnostic evaluation, and speech and language service delivery models.
  • Show flexibility and adaptability.
  • Be organized and communicate effectively.
