Speech and Language Pathologist

About the role

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) plays a crucial role in enhancing the communication skills of students with speech and language disorders. The position focuses on creating an inclusive environment that promotes independence, academic success, and positive interactions among students, families, and the broader community.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on comprehensive assessments and student needs.
• Design and deliver specialized instruction aligned with IEP goals, using district-approved curricula and technology tools.
• Implement and monitor evidence-based interventions, including behavior and social-emotional supports, in collaboration with educators and families.
• Regularly assess and interpret assessment data to inform instructional decisions and communicate progress to families.
• Plan and deliver professional development for staff on effective speech and language practices, including strategies for expressive and receptive language development.
• Maintain cooperative relationships with peers, support staff, and families, ensuring consistent communication and support for student success.
• Comply with all relevant regulations and policies, maintaining accurate records and engaging in ongoing professional learning.

Requirements

• Eligible or licensed as a Delaware Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, with a Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Valid state license and acceptable criminal background report.
• Completion of required Praxis II tests and student teaching.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships and demonstrate sensitivity to diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups.
• Proficiency in technology, including Microsoft and Google applications, and familiarity with district-specific software like Classlink, Schoology, and Infinite Campus.
• Regular attendance and availability to serve students in both remote and in-person settings.
