SPED Physical Education Teacher

Primary Responsibilities

• Design lesson plans, units, and pacing guides with fidelity; adjust as needed to meet student needs.
• Provide direct instruction in physical education.
• Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including students with IEPs, 504 plans, or ELL designations.
• Maintain an organized, fully operational P.E. and gym environment.
• Manage classroom materials, equipment, and supply inventory responsibly.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date grade records in the district's student information system.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback on student projects and assignments.
• Communicate proactively with students, parents/guardians, and school staff regarding student progress.
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences, IEP meetings, and team meetings as required.
• Document and report behavioral concerns in accordance with school policy.

Qualifications

• A valid Professional Educator License with LBS1 and Physical Education endorsements
• An endorsement in Adaptive Physical Education preferred
• A Bachelor's degree or higher in Physical Education or related field preferred
• A background in Physical Education or a closely related field preferred
• Experience teaching in a high school P.E. program preferred
• A Health endorsement preferred
• A Driver's Education/Behind the Wheel endorsement preferred
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification preferred

Work Environment And Physical Requirements

• This position is primarily performed in a high school gymnasium and physical education environment.
• The incumbent should be able to perform the following with or without reasonable accommodation:
• Stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom and other physical education environments for extended periods.
• Demonstrate physical education and exercise techniques.
• Work in an environment with moderate noise levels from active students and equipment.
• Use standard office technology including computers, projectors, and district software platforms.
