SPED Inclusion Teacher (Grades: 6-8)

About the Role

Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop Individual Education Plans (IEP) through the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process for assigned students. Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs and provide written evidence of preparation. Work with classroom teachers to modify regular curricula and assist special education students with assignments in regular classes.

Responsibilities

• Employ various instructional techniques and media to meet student needs and capabilities.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
• Manage student behavior and administer discipline, including crisis intervention and physical restraint as outlined in the IEP.
• Consult with classroom teachers, district resources, and outside agencies regarding student education, social, medical, and personal needs.
• Stay informed of and comply with federal, state, district, and school regulations for special education teachers.
• Perform all other assigned tasks and duties, including time and effort reporting for federally funded positions.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.

Work Environment

The noise level is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is required. Remote work is not an option for this campus-based position, as on-site attendance and duties are essential.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a directly related field.
• Valid Texas teacher certificate with required Special Education endorsements.
• One year of student teaching or approved internship.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the ARD Committee process and IEP goal setting and implementation.
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Knowledge of special needs of students in the assigned area.

Pay

Minimum salary: $67,500 (non-certified) / $68,000 (certified).

Full-time position located at Seagoville Middle School.
