Specimen Processor- Per Diem

About the role

The Specimen Processor I will prepare laboratory specimens for analysis, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment. Responsibilities include specimen accessioning, sorting, data entry, and resolving problem specimens according to established procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
• Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
• Accurately identify and label specimens
• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
• Meet department activity and production goals
• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
• Perform data entry of patient information accurately and timely
• Resolve and document any problem specimens

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED (or equivalent)
• Comfortable handling biological specimens
• Ability to accurately identify specimens
• Experience working in a team environment
• Strong data entry and organizational skills
• High level of attention to detail
• Proficient in MS Office
• Able to lift up to 40 lbs
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year or more of experience in a lab, accessioning, production, manufacturing, or warehouse environment
• 1 year or more of medical or production experience

Pay

$17.75 - $20.00 per hour

Schedule

Monday – Saturday as needed between 7:00 PM – 3:30 AM

Employees scheduled to work less than 20 hours per week, casual, intern, and temporary employees are eligible for the 401(k) Plan only. Employees on a 7-on/7-off schedule receive all benefits except PTO or FTO.
