About the role
The Specimen Processing Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the Specimen Processing department, including Imaging/Microfilming, Test In Question, and Problem Resolution. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance, maintaining a safe and ergonomic environment, and providing leadership and motivation to the team.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and oversee daily operations of the Specimen Processing department
- Oversee safety, ergonomics, maintenance, and cleanliness of the department
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local licensing requirements
- Monitor and review documentation for internal and external inspections
- Ensure employees meet compliance guidelines and competency testing requirements
- Manage employee training and performance
- Prepare and administer annual performance reviews
- Participate in project teams and initiatives to meet business objectives
- Organize and lead projects both within the workgroup and with cross-functional groups
- Meet all deadlines assigned by the manager
- Work effectively with technical departments to resolve problems
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years in a Group Leader/related role
- Preferred: Five years of experience in a laboratory, medical or production background, and previous people leadership experience
- Associate's degree (required); Bachelor's degree (preferred)
- Knowledge of systems tools such as COGNOS, Oracle, EMPower, Kronos
- Excellent leadership, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Mental alertness and high energy required to perform the job
- Works in a biohazard environment, practicing good safety habits
