Specimen Management Specialist / Specimen Accessioner

About the role

The Specimen Management Specialist II will provide operational support to the Specimen Management Division, focusing on precise specimen handling, protocol compliance, and efficient departmental workflow.

Responsibilities

• Accurately accession specimens in accordance with established protocols and guidelines
• Perform intra-lab specimen transportation functions
• Scan, verify, and organize paperwork associated with specimen accessioning
• Execute routine and specialized tasks to facilitate seamless departmental workflows
• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the lab environment
• Participate in the orientation and training of departmental staff
• Ensure strict adherence to protocols and regulatory compliance
• Perform directed clerical duties within the department

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
• Preferred minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience

Physical demands and work environment

• Frequently required to sit, stand, utilize hand and finger dexterity, talk, and hear
• Visual acuity necessary for operating equipment, reading technical information, and keyboard use
• Occasional exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious material
