Specimen Management Coordinator

About the Role

As our Specimen Management Coordinator, you will precisely and efficiently manage patient specimens from collection to testing. Your oversight ensures specimen integrity, accurate diagnostics, patient safety, and regulatory compliance. You will serve as a liaison between collection sites, labs, and clinical staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee specimen flow (receipt, processing, storage, dispatch) adhering to protocols.
• Monitor department workflow and assist the supervisor and team to balance workload.
• Practice positive patient identification at all times, with all samples.
• Perform phlebotomy, following all applicable procedures.
• Troubleshoot, reconcile, and make appropriate decisions regarding specimen ordering and processing.
• Assist with dispatching staff according to business needs.
• Assist with staff training under the direction of the supervisor.
• Manage supplies and documentation.
• Train staff on specimen handling.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or GED upon hire.
• 3 years of phlebotomy experience.
• Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR) certification within 90 days of hire.

Pay

$20.91 - $29.54 per hour.
