As the leader of the health care team, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures. Responsibilities
- Leadership

- Nursing Process
- Develops and/or contributes to the individualized plan of care reflecting assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Ensures the plan shows multidisciplinary planning, consultation, and education.
- Ensures the plan reflects admission or outpatient database, ongoing findings, age-appropriate care, cultural needs, and acuity.
- Discusses the plan with the patient, family/significant others, and completes it in a timely manner.
- Monitors patient progress and revises the plan based on patient condition and evaluation.
- Ensures care meets standards of practice.
- Develops and completes the discharge plan, including barriers and patient/family education.
- Ensures the patient clearly understands discharge instructions.
- In outpatient settings, identifies barriers and educational needs for patient/family medical management.
- Ensures patient safety related to medications, procedures, falls, decubitus prevention, and nosocomial infections.
- Ensures optimal pain control, patient comfort, and addresses patient anxieties or concerns.
- Ensures the patient understands medication purpose, side effects, and administration instructions.
- Documentation
- Charting is accurate, legible, dated, and timed.
- Documentation reflects the nursing process, interventions, and evaluations.
- Utilizes computer systems effectively and efficiently for optimal patient care.
- Clinical Outcomes
- Discusses patient findings and progress with physicians and the health care team.
- Demonstrates competencies during the probationary period and ongoing validation.
- Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on data interpretation, assessments, and patient outcomes.

Requirements
- Experience: 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in Level III NICU or successful completion of the KP Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) course or approved equivalent within the prior 12 months.
- License, Certification, Registration:
- Registered Nurse License (California)
- Basic Life Support from American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program
- May be expected to cross-train to at least 1 other Perinatal area.
Schedule
If the twelve (12) hour option is chosen, the shift will be 8:00 PM – 8:30 AM, with a backup 8-hour shift from 12:00 AM to 8:30 AM. Workdays include Sunday through Saturday.
Pay
The pay range for this role is $69.95 - $95.98 per hour. Kaiser Permanente strives to offer a market-competitive total rewards package and is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted pay range is based on possible base salaries and does not reflect the full value of the total rewards package. Actual base pay at offer will be determined by labor market data, internal alignment, and a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
