About the role

The Montgomery County Department of Parks, Horticulture, Forestry and Environmental Education Division seeks applicants for seasonal/part-time intermittent instructor positions. Ideal candidates should have experience or specialized education in areas such as fitness, dance, yoga, and outdoor recreation.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and delivers interpretive and recreation programs and events.
  • Works collaboratively with other staff members to design and implement new programs that serve the community.
  • Implements recreation classes that engage and educate participants by providing instruction, supervision, and skill set.
  • Provides and outlines lesson plans and descriptions for proposed classes and programs.
  • Maintains an inviting, positive, and safe environment.
  • Communicates effectively with program coordinator and class participants.
  • Maintains communication with class participants.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in skill area or specialized education and training in skill.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must hold a valid certification in discipline/field.
  • Must be able to work daytime and evenings.
  • Must have a valid CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Must be able to pass FBI and MD background check.
  • Ability to communicate in another language is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have valid certification in discipline/field.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.
  • Must be able to pass FBI and MD background check.
