Starting pay range: $23.00 – $25.00 per hour. Full pay range: $23.00 – $39.10 per hour. Pay is based on labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.

About the Role
As a Specialty Sales Team Leader, you’ll help all families discover the joy of everyday life by delivering strong operations, incredible guest experiences, and compelling visual merchandising. You’ll lead teams in Apparel and Accessories (A&A), Home, Baby, Core Beauty, or Electronics, ensuring product availability and an easy-to-shop environment through tasks like pulling, filling, pricing, setting, staging, and maintaining the sales floor and backroom.
This role builds skills in guest service, retail business fundamentals, workload planning, team leadership, and talent development.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a consistent, inspiring, and friendly guest experience by training and holding team members accountable to Target’s guest service commitments.
- Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, drive improvements, and celebrate wins.
- Model and coach a guest-first service culture, including inclusivity, authenticity, and respect for diverse voices.
- Plan and execute daily/weekly workloads to meet department and store sales goals, including merchandising sets, promotions, and inventory management.
- Lead and develop a team of consultants, assigning tasks based on workload and guest traffic patterns.
- Encourage team members to use department tools (e.g., fitting rooms, testers, displays) to provide personalized guest recommendations.
- Partner with third-party vendors to maintain brand standards and ensure areas are fully stocked.
- Support visual merchandising updates, including organizing product, correct signage, and seasonal trends.
- Lead backroom processes, organization, and replenishment to ensure product availability.
- Participate in team hiring and onboarding, and hold team members accountable to goals and expectations.
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment, including clean and secure fitting rooms (if applicable).
- Demonstrate and enforce a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance, including hazard identification and incident reporting.
- Support merchandise protection strategies, including ordering, storage, and application of security measures.
- Occasionally assume store-level leadership duties (e.g., addressing emergencies, compliance needs, or guest services like order pickup and Drive-Up).
- Perform other duties as needed, including cashier backup, compliance with adult beverage laws, and flexible scheduling.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Previous retail experience preferred but not required
- Ability to lead and hold others accountable
- Proficiency with handheld scanners, frequency devices, and other technology
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong workload management and prioritization skills
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment and meet time-sensitive tasks
- Access to all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
- Ability to interpret instructions, reports, and information accurately
- Cash register operation skills as needed
- Ability to climb ladders and handle merchandise safely, including frequently lifting or moving up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 44 pounds without assistance
- Flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and reliable attendance
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other environmental conditions (e.g., Drive-Up, carryout)
- Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)
