Specialty RN - Oncology (UTICA, NY)

Job Summary

Core Job Responsibilities

• Supports the PCP in the delivery of care by gathering and documenting relevant clinical data, as appropriate and per patient need.
• Participates in the daily huddle to identify individual patient needs for upcoming appointments.
• Communicates effectively with other members of the care team in coordinating the individualized plan of care.
• Supports PCP during in-office procedures and examinations.
• Provides outreach and education to patients in need of services as identified through quality improvement initiatives (Population Health Management).
• Performs duties within scope of practice to the highest level of licensure.
• Provides direct support & guidance to other members of the care team as appropriate.
• Adequately assesses and reassesses pain and educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
• Delivers medication utilizing the five (5) rights and observes patient for desired untoward effects.
• Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration.
• Establishes priorities of patient care based on needs and office resource.
• Absorbs information from many different sources and communicates in English both verbally and in writing.
• Assists providers with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skill.

Education/Experience Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or nursing program.
• Current New York State Registered Nursing registration.
• BLS Certification.
• Minimum one year of nursing experience.
• Basic computer and EMR knowledge.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

• BSN from accredited nursing program.
• Experience in a specialty medical office.
• Certifications applicable to the assigned office’s specialty.
