Specialty Pharmacist

About the Role

This position requires a licensed pharmacist to provide high-level clinical services, focusing on patients with complex disease states and specialty medications. The role involves evaluating medication orders, offering clinical education, managing insurance billing and patient assistance, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize drug therapy.

Responsibilities

• Assessing medication appropriateness based on patient condition and therapies
• Ensuring accurate billing, prior authorizations, and managing third-party audits
• Providing clinical education to patients on complex conditions
• Overseeing workflow and supervising pharmacy staff, interns, and volunteers
• Developing, reviewing, and implementing policies for the specialty pharmacy

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (Doctorate preferred)
• Less than 2 years of experience required; 2-5 years preferred
• Licenses including Medication Therapy Services in MO and RPh certification
• Strong knowledge of insurance processes, billing, and patient assistance programs
• Ability to work safely and maintain high alertness in a safety-sensitive environment
