Specialty Instructor - Cooking

About the role

The Twin Lakes Family YMCA in Cedar Park, TX is now accepting applications for a Cooking Specialty Instructor in our ChildWatch Department. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who love working with kids and are passionate about sharing their love for cooking in a fun, fast-paced, and family-oriented environment. We are offering a $260 sign-on bonus for new staff!

Responsibilities

• Lead at least one cooking class per week
• Plan and facilitate engaging culinary lessons for a variety of age groups
• Greet and assist members and participants with professionalism and enthusiasm
• Provide outstanding customer service and maintain classroom control
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary food prep environment
• Collaborate with team members and leadership to ensure high program quality
• Support ChildWatch programming as needed

Requirements

• Must be available to teach one class per week between 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday (day may vary based on availability)
• Punctuality, reliability, and a positive attitude are essential

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• At least one year of experience teaching or leading cooking/baking activities preferred
• Must be at least 17 years old (18+ preferred)
• Experience working with children (ages 4+)
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Able to multitask in a dynamic setting
• Basic knowledge of food safety and handling preferred
• Must pass background check, reference checks, sex offender screening, and pre-employment drug screening

Bonus Skills (Preferred, not required)

• Ability to also teach or assist with sewing, crafts, or painting to support specialty programs

Pay Rate

$15.00 to $19.00/hour
