Specialty Artist - MAC

About the Role

The Specialty Artist – MAC is responsible for maximizing sales in the MAC brand (including color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their individual needs, assisting in merchandise selection and purchase, and maintaining store standards. This role represents Ulta Beauty and MAC brand culture, supporting the Experience Manager through performance, people, and process focus.

Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed MAC brand sales and service goals, contributing to store-wide retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omni-channel, and shrink targets.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships by engaging guests, personalizing service, and following up on inquiries.
• Provide exceptional service, including personalized makeup demonstrations, applications, lessons, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations.
• Complete Skill Certification requirements and stay informed about promotions, marketing initiatives, and industry trends.
• Book and support in-store events and services to deliver unrivaled guest experiences while driving sales.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
• Contribute to an inclusive environment, supporting teammates and guests.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Maintain an active clientele portfolio for MAC brand sales.
• Serve as a brand ambassador by sharing product knowledge, makeup techniques, and MAC programs (e.g., "Back to MAC").
• Participate in required MAC brand trainings and execute in-store events and promotions.
• Collaborate with store managers and associates to grow the business.
• Adhere to Ulta Beauty and MAC policies, procedures, and dress code.
• Maintain store and MAC operational standards, including replenishment, cleanliness, and hygiene compliance.
• Participate in merchandise resets, inventory procedures, and shipment processing.
• Follow loss prevention best practices and protect company assets.

Requirements

• High school diploma preferred.
• Cosmetology or demonstrator license where required by state law.
• Cosmetics artistry experience preferred.
• Strong sales, product, and service competency.
• Ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proactive handling of guest concerns and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Attendance at brand-sponsored trainings.

Working Conditions

• Frequent mobility, standing, bending, reaching, pulling, and pushing during shift.
• Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs.
• Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.
