Specialty Artist - MAC
About the Role
The Specialty Artist – MAC is responsible for maximizing sales in the MAC brand (including color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their individual needs, assisting guests in the selection and purchase of merchandise, and maintaining overall store standards, including cleanliness and replenishment. They represent the image, products, and culture of Ulta Beauty and the MAC brand to the Ulta Beauty guest and support the Experience Manager (EM) through a focus on performance, people, and process.
Responsibilities
- Meet or exceed MAC brand sales and service goals and contribute to meeting or exceeding the store’s goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omni-channel, and retail shrink.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships by interfacing with existing guests, maintaining an active preferred guest list, and following up on guest inquiries.
- Provide exceptional service by greeting and engaging every guest, personalizing service to their needs, offering samples, and recommending complementary products and/or services.
- Conduct professional makeup demonstrations, applications, lessons, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations to MAC and Ulta Beauty brand standards.
- Complete Skill Certification requirements within the specified time frame.
- Stay informed about promotions and marketing initiatives within the brand and throughout the store.
- Book appointments for and support in-store events that deliver an unrivaled guest experience while driving sales.
- Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, including their ingredients and benefits.
- Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
- Contribute to an inclusive environment that supports teammates, peers, and guests.
- Share benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
- Maintain and update an active clientele portfolio for MAC brand sales.
- Serve as an Ulta Beauty and MAC brand ambassador by sharing product knowledge, makeup techniques, and brand philosophies.
- Maintain strong relationships with MAC brand partners through training and event participation.
- Participate in ongoing training for professional development and sales performance.
- Collaborate with managers and associates to grow the business.
- Adhere to Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards, including the dress code.
- Drive sales by keeping the work area replenished, signed, and faced, and ensuring testers are available and maintained.
- Maintain outstanding store and MAC operational standards, including cleanliness and participation in the MAC recycling program.
- Participate in merchandise resets, planograms, marketing displays, inventory procedures, and shipment processing.
- Protect company assets by following loss prevention best practices.
Qualifications
- High school diploma preferred.
- Cosmetology or demonstrator license where required by state law.
- Cosmetics artistry experience preferred.
- Demonstrates competency in sales, products, and service.
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle guest concerns and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Special Position Requirements
- Work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Attend brand-sponsored trainings.
Working Conditions
- Frequent mobility during shift.
- Frequent standing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and twisting.
- Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs. during shift.
- Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects during shift.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00 per hour. Exact pay will be based on factors including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business needs.
