Specialty Artist - MAC

About the Role

The Specialty Artist – MAC is responsible for maximizing sales in the MAC brand (including color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their individual needs, assisting in the selection and purchase of merchandise, and maintaining overall store standards. This role represents the image, products, and culture of Ulta Beauty and the MAC brand while supporting the Experience Manager through a focus on performance, people, and process.

Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed MAC brand sales and service goals and contribute to store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omni-channel, and retail shrink.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships by engaging with guests, personalizing service, and following up on inquiries.
• Provide exceptional guest service, including personalized makeup demonstrations, applications, lessons, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations.
• Complete Skill Certification requirements and stay informed about promotions, marketing initiatives, and industry trends.
• Book appointments and support in-store events that deliver an unrivaled guest experience while driving sales.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance and contribute to an inclusive, supportive team environment.
• Serve as an Ulta Beauty and MAC brand ambassador by sharing product knowledge, trends, and MAC programs (e.g., “Back to MAC”).
• Maintain an active clientele portfolio and promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Participate in ongoing training, including brand and category education, to drive professional development and sales performance.
• Collaborate with managers and associates to grow the business and adhere to Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
• Maintain store and MAC operational standards, including replenishment, cleanliness, hygiene, and participation in resets, inventory, and shipment processing.
• Protect company assets by following loss prevention best practices.

Requirements

• High school diploma preferred.
• Cosmetology or demonstrator license where required by state law.
• Cosmetics artistry experience preferred.
• Strong sales, product, and service competency.
• Ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to attend brand-sponsored trainings.

Working Conditions

• Frequent mobility, standing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and twisting during shift.
• Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs.
• Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.
