Specialized Trades Manager - MECC

The annual salary listed for this position includes an additional $0.75 per hour medium security differential ($1,560 annually) for all full-time positions domiciled in a medium-security institution.

This is an administrator position in charge of a facility infrastructure which includes planning, coordinating, estimating, and scheduling of facility operations and oversight of maintenance, alteration or renovation projects.

Responsibilities

• Management of facility maintenance budget, estimation of project cost and scope
• Development of facilities management policies and procedures, including facility systems preventive maintenance schedules
• Projection of future needs of facilities systems and structural maintenance
• Employee supervision includes hire recommendations, training, planning and assigning work, performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen

In addition to those identified, the employee should have:

• Knowledge of budgeting and contract management
• Knowledge of project management techniques and methods
• Skill in reviewing potential resolutions to issues and considering relative costs and benefits to discern appropriate action
• Ability to develop short and long-range plans to meet objectives and goals
• Ability to evaluate processes and make recommendations
• Ability to manage staff and multiple projects

Requirements

• Five or more years of semi-skilled or higher level of experience relevant/similar to the listed job functions that includes a minimum of one year at a supervisory level

Additional differentials contingent upon position:

• $2.00 per hour shift differential if assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center)
• $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential if assigned a regular post within a restrictive housing/segregation unit at any facility

The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years.
