About the role

This para-professional position supports the STAR program, a specialized educational initiative within the school.

Responsibilities

• Assist certified staff in delivering instructional and behavioral support to students in the STAR program.
• Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans under the direction of the classroom teacher or special education team.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group assistance to students as needed to reinforce learning objectives.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment for students.
• Assist with classroom management, including monitoring student behavior and implementing positive behavior supports.
• Support students with personal care needs, as required (e.g., toileting, feeding, mobility assistance).
• Prepare instructional materials and adapt classroom activities to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other school staff to ensure consistency in student support.
• Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
• Document student progress and communicate observations to the instructional team.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and program details.
