9-month position, 6 hours per day. Program: Social/Emotional Teaching and Reinforcement - Primary (STAR-P). Primary work location: William Lummis Elementary School, Las Vegas.

About the Role

This para-professional position supports the Social/Emotional Teaching and Reinforcement - Primary (STAR-P) program, assisting in the implementation of strategies to foster students' social and emotional development.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in delivering the STAR-P curriculum and related social-emotional learning activities.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students as directed by the teacher or program coordinator.
• Reinforce positive behaviors and social skills through modeling, coaching, and structured activities.
• Monitor and document student progress in social-emotional learning goals.
• Assist with classroom management and the creation of a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with school staff, including counselors and special education teams, to support student needs.
• Participate in training and professional development related to the STAR-P program.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting preferred.
• Ability to follow directions, work collaboratively, and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to pass a background check and meet all district employment requirements.
