Specialty Teacher Overview

We are seeking energetic, creative, and passionate Specialty Teachers to lead engaging enrichment activities for elementary-aged youth (Kindergarten–5th grade) in our afterschool programs. This role offers flexibility in terms of work sessions and throughout the school year.

Program Dates & Availability

Specialty Teachers have the flexibility to work during one or more of the following program sessions, or throughout the entire school year:

  • Session 1: August 17 – October 14
  • Session 2: October 19 – December 18
  • Session 3: January 4 – March 5
  • Session 4: March 15 – May 21

What You'll Do

Lead Hands-On Learning Plan and facilitate exciting enrichment activities that encourage creativity, curiosity, and participation. Specialty areas may include: STEMArtGardeningCoding and TechnologySports and FitnessLeadership DevelopmentLife SkillsPerforming ArtsMusicCultural Enrichment

Mentor & Motivate

Serve as a positive role model and create a safe, supportive environment where every student feels welcomed, valued, and encouraged to succeed.

Create Engaging Experiences

Turn everyday lessons into interactive adventures that help students learn, grow, and develop confidence in their abilities.

Manage Groups

Use positive youth development practices and strong classroom management skills to maintain a fun, organized, and productive learning environment.

Collaborate with Staff

Work closely with Site Coordinators and program staff to support program goals and ensure a high-quality experience for all participants.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with youth in educational, recreation, camp, childcare, or youth development settings preferred.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between program sites if teaching at multiple locations.
  • Must successfully complete required background screening.
