Special Education Teacher (5-9)

Responsibilities

• providing high-quality instruction to secondary students in a classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, a high level of engagement and eagerness to continue to learn and grow
• working collaboratively with other teachers and community members to ensure continued learning of relevant skills and authentic application of those skills
• supporting students as they develop a strong work ethic, pride in their work and the foundational skills employers have identified
• willingness to develop/grow/promote the program to include all learners
• differentiating instruction to ensure all students experience success

Requirements

• Must hold a commitment to promoting equity, practicing cultural responsiveness, and creating inclusive environments
• Candidates must have current NYS certification in Special Education K-6 or K-12
• Candidates should possess a broad skill set of effective teaching and learning to engage learners of all levels, including but not limited to knowledge of the NYS Learning Standards and Assessments; knowledge of curriculum content and accepted methods of instruction; ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team; and excellent written and oral communication skills

Qualifications
