Specialist, Safety & Environment
for section headings: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. Only include sections with real specific content. Remove boilerplate, navigation, legal, EEO, etc. Also remove duplicated lines, application instructions. Keep substantive info.
We need to parse the job description.
Key sections:
- About the role: maybe the first paragraph: "We are seeking an experienced environmental compliance specialist with technical expertise and deep knowledge of federal, state, and local air program environmental regulations pertaining to the pharmaceutical industry. The successful candidate will have a strong background in permitting and compliance management for air pollution sources and refrigerant management with a track record of successful implementation of compliance programs. The role also involves supporting EHS planning and execution and requires effective influencing skills to help drive EHS performance within a complex organization."
- Role Overview: "Reporting to the Associate Director / environmental compliance lead for the West Point Site, the S&E Specialist will provide technical and regulatory guidance to Global Safety & Environment (GSE) business partners and site operations and assist with the integration of environmental compliance programs and company standards into daily activities. As a key member of the site’s GSE team, you will help shape the site’s EHS culture, drive compliance, and embed EHS excellence across all site operations."
Could be part of About the role or separate. Since we only have headings: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. We can combine overview into About the role.
- Responsibilities: list of duties (Main Responsibilities bullet points). We'll extract each bullet.
- Requirements: Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related technical field. Also maybe "Required Experience And Skills" includes Minimum of 3 years of professional EHS or environmental consulting experience in chemical, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments. Working knowledge of applicable air emissions and refrigerant management regulatory requirements (Title V operating permits/plan approvals/RFDs, AIM Act). Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and their relation to environmental regulations. Experience implementing EHS programs, including change management for operational or site initiatives. Ability to support multiple projects and effectively partner with internal business units. Experience implementing management systems and ensuring compliance.
- Qualifications: maybe "Preferred Experience And Skills" could be considered Qualifications? But we have separate Skills heading. The instructions: Use headings for sections: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. So we need to map content accordingly.
We have "Required Skills:" list and "Preferred Skills:" list. Those could go under Skills.
We also have "Preferred Experience And Skills" which could go under Qualifications (or maybe Requirements). But we already have Requirements for required experience. Preferred could be Qualifications.
We also have "Education Required:" which is part of Requirements.
We have "Benefits": mention comprehensive package of benefits: medical, dental, vision healthcare and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), retirement benefits, including 401(k), paid holidays, vacation, and compassionate and sick days. Also link to more info.
We have "Pay": salary range $87,300.00 - $137,400.00. Also mention annual bonus and long-term incentive.
We have "Schedule": maybe not present. There's "Travel Requirements: 10%" and "Flexible Work Arrangements: Hybrid Shift: 1st - Day". Could be schedule info? Not exactly schedule but maybe we can include under Schedule if we have something like "Hybrid" etc. However instructions: only create Schedule section if posting actually states them. It does mention "Flexible Work Arrangements: Hybrid Shift: 1st - Day". That's schedule-related. Also "Travel Requirements: 10%". Could be considered schedule? Might be better to include under Schedule: Hybrid work arrangement, 1st shift day, 10% travel. We'll include.
We must not include boilerplate like EEO, accommodation, search firm, etc. Also remove duplicated lines, application instructions (like "You can apply for this role through..."), etc.
We need to preserve all substantive information; do not invent or summarize away detail. So we need to keep specifics like bullet points exactly as given (maybe rephrase? but must preserve detail). We'll output as - items.
We need to avoid repeating job title as heading. Not include Job ID/requisition numbers as headings; we can drop them.
We need to output only HTML fragment.
Let's structure:
About the role
We are seeking an experienced environmental compliance specialist with technical expertise and deep knowledge of federal, state, and local air program environmental regulations pertaining to the pharmaceutical industry. The successful candidate will have a strong background in permitting and compliance management for air pollution sources and refrigerant management with a track record of successful implementation of compliance programs. - Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and their relation to environmental regulations.
- Experience implementing EHS programs, including change management for operational or site initiatives.
- Ability to support multiple projects and effectively partner with internal business units.
- Experience implementing management systems and ensuring compliance.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in air emissions management compliance programs.
- Experience leading regulatory agency interactions, inspections, permit applications/renewals, emissions inventories, and corrective action implementation.
- Environmental management system implementation skills and demonstrated ability to train and influence cross‑functional teams.
Skills
- Required Skills: EHS Compliance, EHS Program Management, Environmental Regulatory Compliance, Incident Investigations, Interpersonal Relationships, Self Motivation, Training and Development
- Required Skills: Adaptability, Air Quality Management, Biosafety, Budgeting, Driving Continuous Improvement, EHS Auditing, EHS Compliance, Environmental Regulatory Compliance, Ergonomics Program Management, Incident Investigations, Industrial Hygiene, Process Safety, Radiation Safety, Sustainability Management, Waste Management
- Preferred Skills: Current Employees apply HERE Current Contingent Workers apply HERE
But the "Preferred Skills" lines are weird: they are actually about where to apply, not skills. The posting had "Preferred Skills: Current Employees apply HERE Current Contingent Workers apply HERE". That seems like a mistake; maybe it's a placeholder. We should not include filler. According to instructions: do not emit a heading followed by filler/placeholder text (e.g., "commensurate with experience", "not specified", "N/A", "varies", "TBD") and never create Pay/Schedule/Benefits sections unless the posting actually states them. The "Preferred Skills: Current Employees apply HERE Current Contingent Workers apply HERE" is not a skill; it's application instruction. So we should drop that line. Also the "Required Skills:" appears twice; we can combine into one list? The first list: "EHS Compliance, EHS Program Management, Environmental Regulatory Compliance, Incident Investigations, Interpersonal Relationships, Self Motivation, Training and Development". The second list: "Adaptability, Air Quality Management, Biosafety, Budgeting, Driving Continuous Improvement, EHS Auditing, EHS Compliance, Environmental Regulatory Compliance, Ergonomics Program Management, Incident Investigations, Industrial Hygiene, Process Safety, Radiation Safety, Sustainability Management, Waste Management". We'll combine them under Skills as a single list (or two separate lists?). Probably better to combine into one with all items. But we need to preserve all substantive information; we can list them all.
Thus Skills section:
- EHS Compliance
- EHS Program Management
- Environmental Regulatory Compliance
- Incident Investigations
- Interpersonal Relationships
- Self Motivation
- Training and Development
- Adaptability
- Air Quality Management
- Biosafety
- Budgeting
- Driving Continuous Improvement
- EHS Auditing
- Ergonomics Program Management
- Industrial Hygiene
- Process Safety
- Radiation Safety
- Sustainability Management
- Waste Management
We should not duplicate EHS Compliance, Environmental Regulatory Compliance, Incident Investigations appear twice; but we can keep duplicates? Better to deduplicate to avoid redundancy but still preserve all substantive info; duplicates are not substantive new info. I'd deduplicate.
Now Benefits:
We have: "We offer a comprehensive package of benefits. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision healthcare and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), retirement benefits, including 401(k), paid holidays, vacation, and compassionate and sick days. More information about benefits is available at https://jobs.merck.com/us/en/compensation-and-benefits."
We'll put that in a maybe with a link? The instruction: use
for prose. We can include the link as plain text or as . Probably okay to include as plain URL.
