Specialist, Packaging Test Lab
About the role
The Packaging Test Lab Specialist will join a dynamic R&D team responsible for the testing, qualification and commercialization of products and packaging systems for Scotts Miracle-Gro, the industry leader in consumer lawn and garden products.
Responsibilities
- Support the development team by conducting various packaging and applicator performance test protocols including: shock and vibration, environmental stability and compatibility, weathering exposure, and life-cycle testing.
- Collect, analyze and document results to ensure compliance with industry standards and business requirements.
- Prepare and share test reports, findings and recommendations based on historical data and trends.
- Work efficiently and accurately. Identify and implement process improvements (including leveraging AI tools) to boost team efficiency, accuracy and throughput.
- Aid in maintaining the Packaging Test Laboratory: procuring supplies, general housekeeping, maintaining logs and managing maintenance of the equipment.
Requirements
- Education: B.S. Degree in a technical field.
- Experience: 0-2 years in a high performance laboratory environment.
- Knowledge: Basic technical knowledge and fundamentals of scientific thinking. Familiarity with packaging materials, form and function. Basic knowledge of Lawn & Garden products.
- Skills: Basic technical and mechanical skills with a sense of scientific curiosity. Self-motivated with an ability to manage a broad range of responsibilities. Accountable, collaborative, responsive, and adaptable to changing business needs. Basic computer skills alongside strong written and oral communication skills.
Pay
The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $59,700.00 - $70,200.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.
