Job Description
Performs a variety of duties in the mechanical and chemistry areas of the laboratory. Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, and maintains laboratory test instrumentation. Performs work from specifications, operating manuals, engineering drawings, and written material test instructions. Works with complex test instrumentation and computer systems. Operates related test instrumentation, conducts routine and complex testing, and reports data in prescribed format. Operates as a bench laboratory chemist conducting analyses per prescribed test methods.
Essential Functions
- Handle, process, and mix chemicals in a laboratory setting.
- Work with lab instrumentation such as FTIR, Instrons, DSC, Microtrac, titrators, & HPLC
- Sample and test raw materials, propellants, and explosives.
- Prepare and collect raw test data.
- Perform mathematical calculations.
- Clean, assemble and dismantle test hardware, equipment, and apparatus.
- Perform laboratory support work such as instrument calibration, cleaning, inventory, inspections, and material handling.
- Generate test reports, save test data, and report test data.
- Review and submit lab documentation for changes including test and calibration procedures.
Qualifications
- Requires practical or theoretical knowledge of a chemistry lab.
- Bachelor’s Degree (Chemistry preferred) with 4 years minimum prior related experience.
- Graduate Degree (Chemistry preferred) or equivalent with minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Knowledge of testing explosives and energetic materials
- Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation specific to Rocket Propellant manufacturing.
Pay
Commensurate with experience.

4/10: Employees work 10 hour days, 4 days a week.
